As well as the fabulous River San, Pioneer Flyfishing has the exclusive rights to host groups on the beautiful Borne lake in north western Poland. san river
This 200 hectare lake was formed by damming the Pilawa river in 1926. Since then, lying on the edge of a secret military base, the lake has been growing monster pike – there are witnesses in the nearby village of a pike over 20 kilo and 140 cm caught back in the 80’s.
Nowadays – George – a fish addict - manages the lake to be the best pike angler-orientated water in Poland. His “no hurry” politics allowed him to avoid mistakes made often by less patient fishery managers.
After a few years of helping George in his efforts we decided that the lake was ready to host our guests. We do not promise a meter pike every day, we admit that there are only 20 fish over a meter caught each year. We do not even promise a 50 cm pike each day – we know that pike have days where they won’t take anything. What can we promise then?

That there are lots of fish in the lake. That fishing the river santhere are big fish in the lake; that you will be overwhelmed by the beauty of the nature, the surroundings, the wilderness; that you will not see a single house on the 20 kilometers of the lake’s shores; that local kitchen will be excellent.
And, of course, that you will have to take care about nothing other than the fishing. There are also numerous other coarse fish in the lake. Pike and perch can be caught on fly, while the inflowing and outflowing streams provide excellent opportunities for trout and grayling on fly. Is that enough for a successful holiday?
Add fantastic value for money and that will be it.

We are sure that a trip with a fishing rod to the Borne lake can be a fantastic way to visit Eastern Europe, see a different culture and have a chance to catch a huge fish.
